Happy Twenty First

Our youngest crew & family member turns 21 this week! It feels like just yesterday he was coloring in the back room, asking repeatedly  if it was time to go home yet. Now, he's out front manning the office. Amazing how quickly time flies. If you see him be sure to wish him a Happy Birthday.

It's Bitter Out There

In this extremely frigid weather it's not uncommon for the mechanism inside your lock to freeze. If you must access your storage unit today and are unable to open your lock or door hasp just come by the office & we will help you out. Since today is the coldest day in 19 years, if you have the option to wait for slightly warmer weather we certainly encourage you to do so. Stay warm everyone & have a wonderful weekend!

Plowed and Open

snowyfacility

Business as usual has officially resumed. Our storage facility is plowed and office is open.

If you happen to see George be sure to give him a high five - somehow he's still smiling despite pushing snow around most of yesterday and this morning!

Christmas Tree Storage

Looking for an easy-peasy way to store your Christmas tree? Simply remove the very fragile ornaments as well as anything edible (like popcorn strings or candy canes), wrap the tree up with saran wrap all nice & snug, and pop it into a self-storage unit here!

Terminally ill sheriff's deputy wants to take daughter to Disney World

A terminally ill Maryland sheriff's deputy wants to take his daughter to Disney World, and those who know and love him are trying to make it happen.

Coworkers and friends are trying to raise money for Somerset County Deputy Chuck Salvas to send his family, especially his 6-year-old daughter, to Disney World.  Simply put, he can't afford to do it.

So, Salvas' fellow law enforcement officers want to make this happen. They are pleading for donations from the general public, businesses, civic organizations, fire departments, fraternal organizations and anyone else who can donate.

On Monday, a local church made an $800 donation. So far, $6,000 in all has been collected, and they're hoping for more as Christmas draws closer.

Checks or money orders can made payable to the Somerset Co. Sheriffs Office c/o Lt. George Nelson. You may put Chuck Salvas Fund in the memo section.

Donations can be mailed to 30426 Sam Barnes Road Westover, MD 21871 OR dropped off at the Somerset County Sheriff's Office.

Keeping the Christmas Spirit

I came to the office this morning in a foul mood: woke up late, favorite jeans were dirty, slammed my finger in the kitchen cabinet, it's dreary out (and this is the short list). I allowed all these really insignificant things to put me in a funk on what should be the joyful Monday before Christmas. Then, to top it off, at 9:05 a customer arrives. Of all the nerve, right? I've only been open 5 minutes!

So, as life often goes, it turned out to be one of my favorite ladies. She came in and handed me a wrapped present. There was a short note attached thanking me for "being so good" to her this year... Open mouth, insert humble pie.

Her act of kindness reminded me how thankful I am to come in contact with so many amazing people here, many of which are in turmoil or going through huge life changing events. There's something about this counter that makes people step right up and just spill everything. We laugh together & cry together, celebrate beginnings & mourn endings, and more often than not - I simply listen. I cannot express with words how honored I am to have so many people share pieces of their lives with me.

Thank YOU to all of my customers and friends. Merry Christmas.

- Jessicah

Happy Veterans Day

Today, we extend our utmost thanks to all veterans. Please know you are valued beyond measure! I'd also like to personally express my gratitude to the owner here at Airport Self Storage: George, a Marine & veteran of the Vietnam War, my Dad, my hero, and my friend.

Sentech Security Surveillance Cameras

We have full video surveillance by Sentech Security & Communications to help keep your belongings (and YOU) safe here at our facility. Be sure to check them out if you're in the market for a commercial or residential security system. They offer the latest equipment and always provide top notch service. We highly recommend!

AUCTION!

Saturday! Saturday! Saturday! Bring your wallet and be here at 1pm! We have 31 units up for auction. Cash only.

It's Jeep Week in OC!

Ocean City Jeep Week & Jeeps On The Shore are happening this weekend! In the unfortunate event that your Jeep becomes uncooperative while in town give us a call and we can hook you up with a tow dolly or auto transport. For an additional fee we will even deliver and help load up. Call 410-749-6163 for assistance. Leave a message after hours and we'll get back to you asap.

Your safety is important to us

Unlike many of the places in town - it's peaceful out here! While it's true we are located in a seedy area, our seeds actually turn into crops and not crime. The extra five minutes in the car are well worth it, especially when it comes to your personal safety and the security of your belongings.

Store Your Clothes Here

Finding some of your clothes a little tight after overindulging at all the summertime BBQ's? Don't let them waste space in your closet - put them in storage!

We love the airplanes

"I'm just sittin' out here watching airplanes. Take off and fly..."

Stow your patio stuff here

According to the weather forecasters maybe there's a storm heading our way - or maybe there's not. Hmmm... At this point it's really anyone's guess (but at least the forecasters will be right either way). So, if you need a place to stow your outdoor stuff and be on the safe side, bring it here! The office is open until 5pm today and 9am-5pm tomorrow. We will be closed Friday & Saturday for the holiday though so don't delay!

Moving on the 1st of the month

Did you know the 1st of the month is considered the worst day to move? People try to make the most of their money by staying out their lease until the last day - which makes sense on the face BUT can actually end up a financial wash since moving companies, trucks rentals, and/or supplies are often marked up. Consider moving the week before and if possible on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday for the best prices and the least hassle.

Happy Memorial Day!

According to Wikipedia as traditional observance of Memorial Day, the flag of the United States is raised briskly to the top of the staff and then solemnly lowered to the half-staff position, where it remains only until noon. It is then raised to full-staff for the remainder of the day. The half-staff position remembers the more than one million men and women who gave their lives in service of their country. At noon, their memory is raised by the living, who resolve not to let their sacrifice be in vain, but to rise up in their stead and continue the fight for liberty and justice for all...

Of course, our office is closed today for this important holiday and we at Airport Self Storage would like to take this opportunity to express utmost gratitude to those who have served & those who continue to serve our country.
